Winter Learning Journey

Last week friday, some of the PBS students have been got certificates for showing that they have participated in the Winter Learning Journey. School's in our area have also participated in the Winter Learning Journey. This holiday's topic was about the Rio's Olympics 2016 and my favourite activity was creating a logo for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. School's in our area have also participated such as Tamaki Primary, Panmure Bridge, Point England, Glenbrae and many more. A big THANK YOU!! to Rachel Williamson who has oganised this programme in holiday for students.  

Paralympic Sport - Winter Learning Journey

1. Wheel chair Netball

2. To play this game, there would be 7 on each team. If you would receive a ball you have stay still and try see if your team mate is free. Then is your team mate is down on the other side of the courts that you team mate tries to shoot the ball in the netball hoop. Then the you team will score your team a goal.

3. The rules of the game is quite similar to the original game. the 1. rule is you have be 3 meter away from your opponent , if not you have beside them and that called "stand down". The 2. rules is if have receive the ball have to try and not move until you other team mate if free, then you try a pass it to them. The 3. rule is that if you try to attempt a goal you can go move forward a little bit to score your team a goal.

Here are my 3. thing about the Paralympic new sport. the Paralympic new sport that I have just made up it wheel chair netball. I have include the name of the sport, how to play the sport, and 3 rules about the game. The rules of a game is similar to the original game of Netball. 

 

Fundraising - Winter Learning Journey

1. To help with the Fundraiser, I would set up a bake sale in my street to help
2. To help, I would ask a neighbour to help with their chores if they need help.

The reason why I have choose that it because I enjoy doing baking and would a opportunity for others to taste my baking. For my second reason, I choose this because I like helping people and trying new things. 

Para-cycling - Day 7 - Winter Learning Journey

For the para-cycling, I would choose my friend Cecilia because she would have the ability to move around and be in the front, and I would not have the ability to hear and I would have the ability to see. the reason why I would choose Cecilia, it because Cecilia and I are great working together and there are worrying about something.

I think that Maria Tutaia would be a great Olympic Ceremony Host because everyone around the world would now notice her and would be a great opportunity for her to be the host. I have chosen her because I like the way she plays netball and how people can learn some of the tip about netball.

Today I had to rank these NZ Team Olympic Uniform in order from 1 to 3. The first one I would rank it a #1 because it in style and I really the dresses. The 2nd I would rank it a #3 because the fashion style is kind ugly (no offense) but just having one pattern to re present New Zealand would be not good. The 3rd one I would rank it a #2 because I can see the use the of the colour and how different style for each gender.  

Marjorie Gestring - Winter Learning Journey

In 1936, a 13 year old girl named Marjorie Gestring became the youngest person to ever win an Olympic gold medal. She won the gold medal in the springboard diving competition. Imagine that you were alive in 1936 and you had the chance to interview her. On your blog, post five questions that you would like to ask the Olympic champion (if you had the chance to meet her!). Here is the 5 question to ask her if I was alive in 1936:

Eddie The Eagle - Day 5 - Winter Learning Journey.

This is movie is about Eddie the Eagle who is trying to be the best he can to ski at the Winter Olympics. He always believed in himself to be in the Olympics but everyone he knew thought he was joking around but he was really serious about his hobbies. I would recommend this video because people can inspire him to try new things in life and don't let negative feedback come to him.

I have just recently watched this video about being the inspiration. I think that this is a ***** = VERY GOOD video because it tell us to be an inspiration to those who can think of you. Andrea Kilday - Winter Learning Journey

Andrea Klday is going to compete in the Taekawndo Rio Olympic. This is going to be her first time going to the Olympic but she has already won a gold medal large international competition in Papua New Guinea. Andrea was born and rise in Christchurch and but moved Auckland later on in her life.

Niall William - Winter Learning Journey

Are you wondering who this is? Do you know Sonny Bill Williams? Well this a photo of Sonny Bill Williams Sister named Niall Williams. I chosen her because she is one of the Olympic Athletes, and she is going to represent our country in the Rio Olympics for the rugby sevens. Niall Williams has been on a show called Fresh on tv2 and she has said somethings about her life and how she got into rugby. Niall Williams has three sibling and one of them is her twin sister and her name is Denise Williams. Niall Williams has two daughters named Tatem-Lee and Rema-Rae.

Here is a photo of me doing on of the Olympic sport which is Athletics Running. I have choose to do this because sometimes I like to do running and plus it great because I play for my school netball team and its great for running.  I know that the photo is quite blury but hopefully you guys know what I am doing. 

Water Polo - Day 3 - Winter learning Journey

1) Water Polo

2) The aim for water polo is attempt a score in your opponents goal, and the team with the goals wins.
3)The rules for this sport are combined by many other sport but 1. The players can only have one hand to hold the ball and 2.  Only the goalie can use two hands when he is within 5 meters of his own goal.

For this I had to create a blog post about this Olympic sport. I had to include the name for this sport, then I had find out the aim for Water Polo, then I had to find the rules about water polos. Did you know that Water Polo rules combines many others sport... WOW I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!!! well yeah quite interesting. 

Create Your Own Logo - Winter Learning Journey

What I done here was, That I created a Olympic Logo. First I went on Designmantic.com, after that I went to go choose the logo that I wanted. I picked this logo because it looks like that some one is doing the torch relay and how it can inspire someone to do the exact the same thing. 

Landmarks In New Zealand - Winter Learning Journey.

On here I have choose 3 landmark from New Zealand. I have choose The Sky Tower, Mount Wellington, and Rangitoto. The funny thing is that they are all from Auckland, New Zealand. I think that these Landmarks are very beautiful to see and very fascination. What I had to do was to find a landmark in New Zealand along with their names and their clear description about the landmark. 

Tom and Vinicius no.3 - Winter Learning Journey

Today I watched Tom and Vinicius episode #3. This episode was about Tom and Vinicius who were in china, when they were looking at the view then they meet 3 young beautiful girls, they wanted to take photos of Tom and Vinicius. But the 3 young beautiful girls told them to keep moving back and so they did and then they fell but they had a great idea to work together. From there Tom and Vinicius saw them rowing to another land. And played with them until night, Tom and Vinicius and the 3 young beautiful girls watched the moon until Tom had a great idea and that idea was to let some fireflies go and brighten up the bridge then celebrated and played music with each other.

Today I have watched Tom & Vinicius collabratiing together to build their house. First time Vinicius tried sleeping in the log, but it had some bugs in it. Then Tom tried to sleep in a tree, but it had some mysterious thing in. So Tom and Vinicius were figuring out were to sleep. They tried and tried and they had an idea to bulid their house in water and in the tree. But when they first tried it out is was uncomtable to sleep in, so both of them sleep outside of their house.

This video about these random cartoon characters who have just meet and they have got along very well. That happens when one person thinks that they are not going to be friends with that person, but when you get to see who they truly are, they become true friend.

Why Were Women At The Olympic Game?

Well the answer to the question is that Women were allowed to participate in sporting events in Sparta. There were two other events for sportswomen from other parts of Greece, but women weren't allowed active participation in the Olympics. 

Milo Of Croton - Winter Learning Journey

Milo Of Croton

• Milo of Croton was a 6th-century BC wrestler from the Magna Graecian city of Croton, who enjoyed a brilliant wrestling career and won many victories in the most important athletic festivals of ancient Greece.

• Milo was a six-time Olympic victor. He won the boys' wrestling (probably in 540 BC), and thereafter five men's wrestling titles between 536 and 520 BCE. He also won seven crowns at the Pythian Games at Delphi (one as a boy).

• The date of Milo's death is unknown, but he reportedly was attempting to tear a tree apart when his hands became trapped in a crevice in its trunk, and a pack of wolves surprised and devoured him.

In this blog activity, I have list three facts about "Milo of Croton. This was very hard to find but everything about him was on wikipedia..... "Phew." This was very interesting to find facts about him and how he was the 6th century BC wrestler.
